What are we?

Our Vision:
A Nevada capable of meeting the cybersecurity challenges of today and tomorrow.”
Who are we?
A group of professionals from both the private and public sectors who have a passion for helping reduce the harmful impacts of today’s cyber threats.
Our Mission:
Through education and awareness, strengthen Nevada’s residents’ and businesses’ understanding of safe, responsible and secure computing and Internet practices.”
How did we get here?
In 2012, the Nevada Governor’s office was awarded a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) grant to strengthen the State’s cybersecurity posture through a Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security (CIAS) program. This program engaged industry and community leaders like CEOs, CFOs, VPs, Mayors, County Commissioners, Council Members, City Managers, Directors, etc. across the State to initiate community-wide cybersecurity awareness and enhancement.
After a series of seminars, workshops and exercises, one of the opportunities identified during this effort was the need to continue to increase community awareness of cybersecurity practices. Therefore, a sub-committee was formed and chartered to continue this work. That sub-committee has now evolved into the non-profit organization known as CybersafeNV.
Where are we going?
Our primary tool for enhancing for fulfilling our mission is our website at www.cybersafenv.org.
We are in the process of building out that site, establishing sponsorships and putting together our marketing and business plans. Our plan is to have an established presence in place by October of 2013 to coincide with National Cyber Security Awareness Month.
